[Yum] how to specify directory for yum installation

Hi James,
I tried with --installroot, and it's not what I want. For example,
#yum --installroot=/opt install Soft_pkgs
#ls /opt
cache/ lib/ ...
(all yum stuff, not the software I needed.)
