[Yum] help needed in yum installation

I am a newbie in linux. so plz bear with me.
I happened to install an old version of yum 2.0.7. It doesnt work. I want to
uninstall it and install the latest. I face these problems.
*1. wen i try uninstalling yum*
*[root at onsager aditya]# rpm -e yum
error: Failed dependencies:
yum = 3.2.0-1.fc7 is needed by (installed)
yum-updatesd-3.2.0-1.fc7.noarch
yum >= 2.9.5 is needed by (installed) pirut-1.3.7-1.fc7.noarch
[root at onsager aditya]# sudo rpm -e yum

How do I do that?
*2. I have downloaded yum 3.2.8. How to install it? I dont see ./config
file. *
