[Yum] error after install

installed fine, but now I'm getting:

     import yummain

   File "cli.py", line 39, in ?
     from yum import pgpmsg
ImportError: cannot import name pgpmsg

any time I try and use it.  I have fedora core 3, with python 2.3 and 
rpm 4.3.2
