Depends on the repo, and who packages them. For example dag, freshrpms and 
a few others are working to be completely compatible.  But if you pick 
J.Random repo to add, you're at the mercy of their packages, and 
cooperative nature. This isn't a yum thing, but an rpm packaging issue.
