[Yum] out of space in /var

How hard would it be to, say:

* Download the headers
* Resolve what needs to be resolved
* Download first package
* Install first package
* Clean first package
* Download second package
* Install second package
* Clean second package
(etc)

Any problems with that approach rather than bulk download followed by bulk
install?
