1) I use yum to make other people happy by packaging it pre-configured for
various Red Hat Linux and Yellow Dog Linux releases on freshrpms.net :-D

2) I use yum to make _my_ work easier by having all my company's servers
use it, including for automatic updates. That's around 110 x86 machines
worldwide with heterogeneous hardware, releases and package sets. I was
previously using apt interactively and autoupdate for the automated part,
as it had easy gpg signature checking... now, yum replaced both.
