[Yum] yum and proxy...

michael,

rpm version i installed on my redhat 7.3 box is yum-1.0.3-1_73

i did read that yum would work with a proxy if i specified its address, which i tried...

http_proxy=http://proxy.mydomain.com:8080

i also tried http_proxy=proxy.mydomain.com:8080

i tried to yum and it just hung...

i didn't see any info on the web regarding authentication, which i need to do with my proxy.  so, i just tried these environment varibles...

http_proxy_pass=mypass
http_proxy_usr=myuserid

it just hung on every attempt...

i know it isn't the network connection on my machine, i can surf fine...
