[Yum] high memory utilization

Which will come when I split off from RH9 and build a custom distro.  For
now I'm working from kickstarts against RH9.

It turns out that this big memory issue only happens one time;  the first
time the system is updated.  I rebooted the box, and for giggles ran yum
update again and yum used ~11M tops.
