[Yum] New versions of YUM !!!!

Need informations about latest version of YUM !!!

I have been using a older version of YUM-ARCH which, when run in a directory
containing, say, 100 RPM, creates header info files for all the RPM. Later
when the YUM is run, it uses these header files created in the provious step
and updates the RPM...

But I came to know that recent version of YUM-ARCH doesn't create header
files but it creates some knid of XML file to store the meta-data of all
RPM.. also the latest version YUM requires this XML file for processing...
it would not accept the header file..

So, if your YUM-ARCH and YUM are not compatible, then the
patching/upgradation process will not successed.

Is this true... need pointers to read in this regard..
