[Yum] verifying Yum updates

not at the moment but it's on the todo list.

Not really. You can run rpm -Va after yum runs to find out.

if the system crashes when anything is going on what generally happens?
Nothing gets reported - it's in the nature of a system crash that you
cannot get log information from it.
