[Yum] installing/searching via "perl(Module::Whatever)"?

so first things first:
1. 'yum provides' is probably what you're looking for
2. yum 2.3.1 and above can install like you mention above (although I
personally think it's badly stupid)
3. in yum 2.[23].X look at yum resolvedep, too
