[Yum] yum guru...

hi..

this is geting sort of ridiculous...!!!

looked through google.. trying to understand what i may screwed up on...
can't seem to make headway...

it appears that yum has actually downloaded files to my system. it also
appears that i have some sort of FC on the box.. however, the files/rpms
that yum put in the /var/cache/yum/basic/packages dir are not installed.

as an example, if i do python, i get version 2.2-7. which is what i get if i
do 'rpm -q'. however, there is a python-2.3.3-6.i386.rpm which is really
what i expected to be loaded....

so something is going wrong/has gone wrong with my attempt at using 'yum
upgrade'. btw, as far as i can tell, the files in the '../packages' dir are
the right ones from the FC2 download.. if i could get them to actually be
installed!!!!!

pointers/criticisms/thoughts/etc...

are there any yum gurus out here, that i could talk to??? i'm pretty sure
that with the right person, this is probably a 5-10 min conversation,
followed by a 'got it!'..

thanks
