Hi there

I have problem installing yum 2.2, 2.3 or 2.4 under Fedora Core 2.
Installation seems to proceed well, both from the tar.gz package and
from the src.rps. However, when I try to start yum I keep getting the
error message No module named yum from Python, whatever way of
installing I try. I have followed the advice to use the src.rpm, but
this makes no difference. It happens with yum-2.2.2-1, 2.3.2-1, 2.4.0-1,
2.4.1-1 Apparently a file named yummodule.so is missing from
/usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/. I have also tried Python 2.4, without
effect.
What can I do to get it there? Is it possible simply to transplant
yummodule.so from another machine, and if so, where can I find a copy?
Thanks for all help,

Jan

I was having a problem installing yum.

I think I have installed it properly but then I got this error message
There was a problem importing one of the Python modules
required to run yum. The error leading to this problem was:

   No module named yum

Please install a package which provides this module, or
verify that the module is installed correctly.

It's possible that the above module doesn't match the
current version of Python, which is:
2.3.4 (#1, Feb 2 2005, 11:44:49)
[GCC 3.4.3 20041212 (Red Hat 3.4.3-9.EL4)]

If you cannot solve this problem yourself, please send this
message to <yum at lists.linux.duke.edu>.

thanks in advance...

Definitely underwhelming with regards to performance in comparison to a
similarly-configured Opteron-based system. :)

Has anyone updated the man page to reference the FAQ before this email
list? Maybe this would avoid so much repetition on the list.

2.4.0 has the following:
-----------------------
SEE ALSO
       yum.conf (5)
       http://linux.duke.edu/yum/

BUGS
There of course arenbt any bugs, but if you find any, they
should be sent to the mailing list: yum at lists.linux.duke.edu or
filed in bugzilla.
-----------------------

I wonder if the BUGS area should mention the FAQ before the mailing
list :)
