I already reported this, but not at the best forum.

So yum, similarly to rpm, does not work with publicfile's httpd and
ftpd. At the end of my message you will see one motivation why I (and
many other people) care about publicfile.

Here is what I get for httpd

# yum info
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 1 - i386 - Base
retrygrab() failed for:
  http://moni.msci.memphis.edu/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info
  Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file http://moni.msci.memphis.edu/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info
[Errno 6] ERROR: Url Return no Content-Length - something is wrong

The strace output is at

http://www.csi.hu/mw/yum.strace

It seems yum does not like

Transfer-Encoding: chunked

Here is what I get for ftpd

# yum info
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: Fedora Core 1 - i386 - Base
retrygrab() failed for:
  ftp://moni.msci.memphis.edu/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info
  Executing failover method
failover: out of servers to try
Error getting file ftp://moni.msci.memphis.edu/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/os/headers/header.info
[Errno 4] IOError: [Errno ftp error] 426 Transmission failure: not a directory

The strace is at

http://www.csi.hu/mw/yum.ftpd.strace

Here is why I care about publicfile. Connecting from my bellsouth DSL account,
I get

publicfile's ftpd:

$ time ncftpget ftp://moni.csi.hu/pub/emacs-20.7-1memphis.i386.rpm .
emacs-20.7-1memphis.i386.rpm:       11952368 bytes  144.29 kB/s

real    1m22.307s
user    0m0.020s
sys     0m0.380s

vsftpd:

$ time ncftpget ftp://moni.csi.hu/pub/emacs-20.7-1memphis.i386.rpm .
emacs-20.7-1memphis.i386.rpm:                           11.40 MB   50.28 kB/s

real    3m53.823s
user    0m0.050s
sys     0m0.490s

Thx for any help,

Mate
