OK - downloaded and added a patch to give me the /etc/yum.conf I need.

Build the rpm and installed it in repository.

[root at localhost SPECS]# yum update

I will do the following:
[update: yum.noarch]
Is this ok [y/N]: y
Calculating available disk space - this could take a bit
warning: /etc/yum.conf created as /etc/yum.conf.rpmnew
yum 100 % done
Updated: yum.noarch

[root at localhost SPECS]# yum update
-bash: /usr/sbin/yum: No such file or directory

Moved /etc/yum.conf.rpmnew to /etc/yum.conf

[root at localhost SPECS]# mv /etc/yum.conf.rpmnew /etc/yum.conf
mv: overwrite `/etc/yum.conf'? y
[root at localhost SPECS]# yum update
-bash: /usr/sbin/yum: No such file or directory

Any idea?
