ok i see your problem.
maybe some kind of "plugin" into yum.
it would be enough to have an option in "yum" and several files for the
changelogs on the webserver. yum would download the additional files
only if needed/requested.

so the headers for ordinary updates stay the same and the info is easy
to reach.
maybe i should think it over
