Python has a way of doing that to people. Perl and Python are nearly
opposites philosophically. I programmed quite a bit of perl and was
quite fluent before I grudgingly investigated python. It was only a
few months before I was porting my perl tools to python. You should
check it out.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not trying to start a flame-war. I'm not suggesting
that python is "better" than perl. Frankly, I'd suggest that people
who've only written python should take a look at perl. As always, I'm
not interested in comparisons from people who haven't spent months (at
least) programming in both, mostly because the stuff I wrote when I
was in that state was embarrassingly incorrect or naive.
