[Yum] can't understand this dependency

I finally decided to remove all the up2date stuff..., so

[root at yogi root]# yum remove up2date
<snip />
Resolving dependencies
.package rhn-applet needs /usr/share/rhn/RHNS-CA-CERT (not provided)

I did it again with -d 9 and here is the tail of the massive output:

nulist = 1004
uplist = 3
newlist = 1001
obsoleting = 0
obsoleted = 0

The strange (to me @ least) thing is that then I did

[root at yogi root]# yum remove rhn-applet
<snip />
Dependencies resolved
I will do the following:
[erase: rhn-applet.i386]
Is this ok [y/N]: y
warning: /etc/sysconfig/rhn/rhn-applet saved as
/etc/sysconfig/rhn/rhn-applet.rpmsave
Erased:  rhn-applet.i386
Transaction(s) Complete

[root at yogi root]# yum remove up2date
<snip />
getting
/var/cache/yum/updates80/headers/rhn-applet-0-2.0.9-0.8.0.1.i386.hdr
Resolving dependencies
.Dependencies resolved
I will do the following:
[erase: up2date.i386]
I will erase these to satisfy the depedencies:
[deps: firstboot.noarch]
[deps: up2date-gnome.i386]
Is this ok [y/N]: y
warning: /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date saved as
/etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date.rpmsave
Erased:  up2date.i386 firstboot.noarch up2date-gnome.i386
Transaction(s) Complete

so everything works!

[root at yogi root]# yum list yum
<snip />
yum                                      noarch     1.0.1-1_80
