[Yum] ok, so how come "yum update" doesn't?

my version of RH?  it's the second beta of severn.  not the most recent
test release but the one just prior to that.  i'm not sure i know what 
you're asking here.  7.x or 8.0 of what?

ouch.  i guess i never tried to upgrade that much via "rpm" all at once,
to the point where i'd get an "out of space" error.    but doesn't that 
mean that the nightly yum.cron update could fail for the same reason if
it's running for the very first time and finds it has to update hundreds
of packages?
