[Yum] man page question

In the man page for yum, yum-0.9.4-1_8x

I find:
       -y Assume yes; assume that the answer to answer to any question
              which would be asked is yes. Configuration Item: assume-yes

Is this actually:
    assume=yes

( "=" not "-" ) ?

I ask because I tried using it:

[root at ftp root]# yum install php-mysql
Traceback (most recent call last):

    yummain.main(sys.argv[1:])

    raise e
ConfigParser.ParsingError: File contains parsing errors:
/etc/yum.conf
        [line  7]: 'assume-yes\n'
[root at ftp root]#

But when I make that change and try an unattended install ...

[root at ftp root]# cat /etc/yum.conf | grep assum
assume=yes
[root at ftp root]# yum install php-mysql

I will do the following:
[install: php-mysql.i386]
Is this ok [y/N]: y

yum-0.9.4-1_8x
rpm-4.1-1.06

[root at ftp root]#

so that alternative version of the option seems not to work
