Yeah, switching from yum to dnf with python3 bindings is one of several
gating factors for Fedora to switch the python binary.  I suppose it could
help: 1) other distros that package yum 2) Someone who would want to package
and ship yum on Fedora after the distro switches its default.

$ rpm -qf /usr/bin/python2
python-2.4.3-56.el5

so switching the shebang line shouldn't be the cause of incompatibility on
rhel5.
