Punting to the user is generally a bad idea in this case.

Frobitz failed!  Do you want to A) Continue (with unknown scary consequences) 
or B) not do what you asked me to do?

This is the point where the user asks "What the hell is Frobitz, and why 
doesn't this piece of junk update software work?"

It's a really hard problem, and punting to user is just taking a pass at 
solving it.

Maybe we have to though, with a timeout to just continue.  It would be helpful 
if each plugin had a description / functionality field that could be 
displayed in these situations to at least give the user some breadcumbs for 
making a decision.
