Yeah, that's what I was going to suggest -- pirut actually has this but
it's a) not configurable and b) not really split out at all into a
plugin because I didn't think of doing it that way ;)  

But if a plugin were to exist, I'd probably lean towards moving towards
having Fedora install the plugin by default and stop maintaining some
code :-)
