--skip-broken did not help, in fact skip-broken is broken with current
yum git and yum-ffesti git.

A side note: 

after I removed packages blocking yum, I did upgraded all packages. I
then installed some packages and then hit this bug:

My rpm package db was completely broken with only 200 of 1200 packages
left. I reinstalled from scratch: fc7 -> fc7-all-updates -> rawhide
using yum-ffesti.

However it seems to be a serious bug in rpm/yum somewhere...
