Yes, it very looks good: I get 195 seconds vs 47 seconds for:

Install     10 Package(s)         
Update     281 Package(s)         
Remove       0 Package(s)         

Total download size: 369 M.

This was with both patches.

BTW:

Wrong list, but if we could get rid off all the not so clever scripts:

 * scrollkeeper-update
 * update-desktop-database
 * gtk-update-icon-cache
 * gconftool-2 --makefile-uninstall-rule /etc/gconf/schemas/* ...
 * and even more

and then add yum-presto, updating could be very fast and nice...
