It's too bad there wasn't already some object (or set of objects) that
could just get passed back, like maybe the package and the repo. That's
probably overkill though.
You could also have two different methods, one for each callback type,
and then the old method could get deprecated or (my favorite) removed
without warning.
What you wrote looks good to me; I'd probably say stick with that.
