we know that look ups to the rpmdb may well be slower with the newer
code b/c we have to frequently open/close the rpmdb. Whereas before we
could just leave it open. I didn't think the difference would be as
dramatic as what Terje posted.
Terje,
Can you run your test again with 3.0.1 or CVS 3_0_X and compare? When I
did the same test I ran after the header index cache it had sped up
dramatically vs 2.9.7.
