[Yum-devel] some outstanding bugs to think about for devel

Hi Tim Lauridsen

I am a relative beginner with linux and am using Fedora Core5. One fine
evening, while running yumex, a nice fine list of updates to yum were
presented.
Once installed,

yum, kyum, and yumex all die because of the versionlock. plug in

Versionlock fails because it cannot find versionlock.list. No empty
list was ever distributed, and no information was provided as to how to
remove versionlock plugin.

Here is my listing

Reading version lock configuration

Unable to read version lock configuration: [Errno 5] OSError: [Errno 2]
No such file or directory: '/etc/yum/pluginconf.d/versionlock.list'

Please tell me the format of the file that should be there. If it is
empty, should I just touch one ?

Tim,
Although it is probably not your responsibility, but if you know who
should know, I would like to have this thought forwarded.

"When yum dies, all updates to the system stop. The system is frozen in
time" As we need an emergency start recovery CD, we absolutely need a
recovery facility for rpm / yum. To my mind, we require a yumtest and a
yum, a yumextest, and yumex. When we, have our safe experience with the
test version, we could then promote it to the "production version".

Hope I am not writing to the wind.
