I agree with Panu, because of the same reasons: If we have a well
defined interface it won't be a very big mess (IMO) and I also need
some functionality similar to (but different from) what Panu needs in
order to use yum at work.
This is functionality that won't make it into the released version of
yum and I would prefer being able to do it as a plugin instead of
maintaining a set of patches that have to be updated with every new
release to implement it.
We will have to make it clear somehow that people shouldn't come to us
complaining about some third party plugin messing up stuff. This might
be difficult as one never knows what exactly is causing problems on a
user's system.
